LEAH INGRAM - LIFESTYLE AND FRUGAL-LIVING EXPERT - PROTECT YOUR HOME FROM OLD MAN WINTER AND SAVE ON COSTLY HOME REPAIRS

Personal Finance Expert Leah Ingram Shares Five Easy Fall Fix-Ups that will Save Money Now and Prevent Major Repairs Later  Plus, the Most and Least Expensive Cities to Complete these Projects!

Fall is the perfect time to start preparing your home to withstand winter’s frosty bite! Whether you plan to tackle the to-do list on your own, or bring in a professional, getting a jump on small maintenance jobs now can save you big cash later.

In interviews on Wednesday, September 17, personal finance expert Leah Ingram will talk about the five fall home projects to get started before temperatures drop.  She’ll talk about how to use the HomeAdvisor’s cost guide to determine when to hire a pro versus completing the project DIY.  She’ll also share the most and least expensive cities to get the job done in.

The five fall fix-ups include:
  1. Install weather-stripping: Installing weather stripping can save homeowners money on energy costs that result from leaks in the doors and windows.
  2. Clean gutters and downspouts: Cleaning the gutters once a year removes any debris such as twigs and leaves that can fall in and clog the gutters.
  3. Remove leaves: Removing the leaves before the first snow helps prevent the buildup of fungus and an increase in insects that can kill the grass.
  4. Service a furnace: Servicing the furnace annually and completing small repairs can help prevent needing to replace the furnace.
  5. Clean ducts and vents: Cleaning the ducts and vents annually helps prevent the buildup of dust, debris, and other particles such as mold in the vents.
